Salary Structure
Selected candidates receive a lucrative stipend during training and are placed in Group A Gazetted pay scales upon successful completion and appointment as Scientific Officer/C.

Selection Process
The NPCIL selection process is transparent and strictly based on technical merit through GATE scores followed by an intensive Personal Interview to assess suitability.
- Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted for interview in a 1:12 ratio based on GATE 2024/2025/2026 scores.
- Personal Interview: Final selection is based 100% on Interview performance; GATE score has no weightage in the final merit.
- Document Verification: Original documents are verified at the time of the interview.
- Medical Examination: Candidates must be found medically fit by the NPCIL Authorized Medical Officer.
Exam Pattern & Interview
Since the initial screening is via GATE, there is no separate written exam. The Personal Interview carries the entire weightage for the final merit list.

Job Profile & Responsibility
As an Executive Trainee and later a Scientific Officer, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Nuclear Power Plants across India.
- Operation and maintenance of Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWR) or Light Water Reactors (LWR).
- Involvement in R&D, Design, Engineering, and Quality Assurance projects.
- Ensuring nuclear safety protocols and radiation protection standards.
- Supervising technical teams and managing power plant systems.
