Qualification

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in any of the following fields from a University or institution established or incorporated by or under the Central or a State Act in India, or any other recognized educational institution:

Educational Qualification A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Application, Commerce, Science (Mathematics/Statistics), or Arts (Statistics/Economics/Mathematics) from a recognized university.
Computer Knowledge Must possess basic knowledge of computer application as per government rules. This can be evidenced by a certificate from a training institute, a diploma/degree course with computer as a subject, or having passed 10th/12th with computer as a subject.
Language Proficiency Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or Both is essential.
Cut-off Date for Eligibility All eligibility criteria, including age and qualifications, will be considered as of 21 August 2026. For educational qualification, the passing date of the degree examination will be the last date for filling the Main Examination form.

Salary

Selected candidates for the GSSSB Municipal Accountant post will initially receive a fixed monthly salary for the first five years. Upon satisfactory completion of this period, they will be appointed on a regular basis with a competitive pay scale as per government norms.

Selection Process

The selection process for the GSSSB Municipal Accountant involves a rigorous two-stage examination designed to assess candidates' knowledge and aptitude. It begins with a preliminary screening test, followed by a comprehensive main examination, ensuring only the most qualified candidates are selected.

  • Phase I: Preliminary Examination (MCQ)
    • This is an objective-type screening test (CBRT/OMR) with 150 marks.
    • Marks obtained in this phase are not considered for final merit but are crucial for qualifying for the Main Examination.
    • A negative marking of 0.25 will be applied for each incorrect answer.
    • Candidates must secure a minimum of 40% marks to qualify for the Main Examination.
  • Phase II: Main Examination (Descriptive)
    • This phase consists of two descriptive papers, each carrying 100 marks.
    • Candidates must appear in both papers of the Main Examination; absence from any paper will lead to disqualification.
    • Approximately 7 times the total vacancies will be called for the Main Examination based on Prelims merit.
    • A minimum of 40% marks in each paper of the Main Examination is required.
    • The final selection list will be prepared based on the total marks obtained in the Main Examination.
  • Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will undergo document verification based on their performance in the Main Examination.
