- Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in any of the following fields from a University or institution established or incorporated by or under the Central or a State Act in India, or any other recognized educational institution:

- Arts (Statistics/Economics/Mathematics)
- Possess basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed by the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
- Have adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or Both.
- Note: B.Sc. (CA & IT) and M.Sc. (CA & IT) degree holders are not eligible for this post.

Salary
Selected candidates for the GSSSB Municipal Accountant post will initially receive a fixed monthly salary for the first five years. Upon satisfactory completion of this period, they will be appointed on a regular basis with a competitive pay scale as per government norms.

Selection Process
The selection process for the GSSSB Municipal Accountant involves a rigorous two-stage examination designed to assess candidates' knowledge and aptitude. It begins with a preliminary screening test, followed by a comprehensive main examination, ensuring only the most qualified candidates are selected.
- Phase I: Preliminary Examination (MCQ)
- This is an objective-type screening test (CBRT/OMR) with 150 marks.
- Marks obtained in this phase are not considered for final merit but are crucial for qualifying for the Main Examination.
- A negative marking of 0.25 will be applied for each incorrect answer.
- Candidates must secure a minimum of 40% marks to qualify for the Main Examination.
