National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has released an official notification for the recruitment of 21 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions. This recruitment is purely on a temporary and contractual basis, co-terminus with the completion of the sponsored research projects.   • Junior Research Fellow (JRF): Post Graduate degree in basic science OR Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through GATE / CSIR-UGC NET or similar national level examinations conducted by central government agencies (DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MOE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, etc.).

Full Eligibility

Candidates must possess the Essential Qualification as per project requirements including valid GATE/NET scores. Final year students are eligible to apply but must submit results by 30 September 2026.

The Fellowship for JRF positions is standardized across the institute as per ANRF/Ministry of Education guidelines with periodic increments.

Job Profile & Responsibility

The Junior Research Fellow (JRF) will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) to execute technical project tasks, conduct experiments, and manage data analysis.

  • Design and development of AI/ML models or Hardware Prototypes as per project goals.
  • Conducting extensive Literature Reviews and publishing Research Papers in indexed journals.
  • Performing Lab experiments, field-work, and data collection.
  • Assisting in the preparation of Progress Reports for funding agencies.
  • Managing technical documentation and project-related administrative tasks.
