The Commissioner of Medical Education, Research & AYUSH, Maharashtra has released a notification for the recruitment of 1540 Tutors and Junior Residents in Government Medical Colleges. This is a golden opportunity for MBBS graduates looking for clinical and academic roles in the state. Candidates must apply through the online portal before the deadline of 23 February 2026. The selection will be based strictly on merit and reservation criteria.

To be eligible for the DMER Maharashtra Tutor and Junior Resident positions, candidates must fulfill the academic and registration requirements set by NMC. Possession of a valid MMC/NMC registration is mandatory at the time of application. Candidates with additional postgraduate degrees like MD or MS will receive preference during the tie-breaker process.

Selected candidates will be appointed on a contractual basis for a period of one year. The salary structure is fixed and does not include additional allowances beyond the specified monthly pay. This is a fixed pay model as per the Maharashtra Government Medical Education Department rules.

The selection is purely merit-based, calculated from the marks obtained in the MBBS examinations. There is no separate entrance exam for these posts. The DMER will release a merit list, after which candidates must fill in their college preferences online.

There are a total of 1540 vacancies distributed across various social and horizontal reservation categories. The Open category has 395 seats combined across both posts.
