Selection Process
The SSC Stenographer Selection Process is a multi-stage recruitment drive. Candidates must qualify in each stage to make it to the final merit list for Grade C & D allocation.
- Phase 1: Computer Based Examination (CBE): Objective-type multiple-choice test consisting of Reasoning, General Awareness, and English.
- Phase 2: Skill Test in Stenography: A practical test assessing shorthand dictation and computer transcription speed. It is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
- Phase 3: Post Preference: Candidates will submit online preferences for various posts and departments before the First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA).
- Phase 4: Document Verification (DV): Checking of original educational certificates, caste, and PwBD certificates by the respective User Departments.
- Phase 5: Medical Examination: Applicable particularly for candidates selected in departments with specific physical/medical standards like the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
Exam Pattern
The Computer Based Examination (CBE) for SSC Stenographer 2026 comprises three parts. The question paper will be objective type and set in both English & Hindi (except for the English section).
