Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme
The BPSC Mains Exam Pattern consists of descriptive papers designed to evaluate the candidate's logical reasoning and subject expertise. While General Hindi is qualifying in nature, the marks of other papers determine the final merit.
- General Hindi: 100 Marks (Qualifying only, 30% needed).
- General Studies (GS I & GS II): 300 Marks each (Descriptive Type).
- Essay: 300 Marks (Descriptive Type).
- Optional Subject: Varies by post; Integrated 71st CCE optional is generally 100 marks (MCQ based/Qualifying) or as per revised norms.
- Negative Marking: Not applicable for descriptive written papers, but may apply to MCQ-based qualifying optional papers.
